Throughout the history of the SAAF, the force has changed its emblems and roundels multiple times. From 1947 to 1958 this emblem bearing the iconic South African Springbok was the standard. The P-51 Mustangs and F-86 Sabres of the famed South African 2 Squadron that flew during the Korean War bore this roundel.
